Printing Methods For Promotional Products
Tampo or Pad Printing
Ink transferred using a pad made from silicone or rubber.
Ideal for products with an even surface like plastic, glass, ceramic, metal, silicone, or wooden.
Pad printing normally take up to 4 spot colors (pre-mixed ink colors).
It is the most common decorating method.
Examples: pens, water bottles, stress balls and highlighters.
Silkscreen Print
Tried and tested process using a porous mesh screen that has an ink blocking stencil transferred onto it.
Each colour requires new screens. Silk screening is normally done with up to 4 spot colors (pre-mixed ink colors).Low cost, durable and hard wearing.
Examples: apparel, tote bags, clothing and conference folders.
Embroidery
Using a machine and stitching process to build up logo or text. The garment is placed onto the embroidery machine which will execute the digitized logo into stitches and then assigned color threads.
Hardest wearing print method for textiles and makes especially corporate apparel look sophisticated.
Recommended for fleece material.
Examples: jackets, hats, caps, shirts and towels.
Laser engraving
Laser engraving on promotional products are often found on wood, acrylic, textiles, stainless steel or glass products. The engraving method uses a precision laser beam and is fast with very little setup time. Permanent and the most durable form of imprint on the market. Products can be personalised.
Examples: stainless steel keychains, glass or acrylic awards.
Full color digital printing
Used when a logo contains many colors and gradients, it is printed direct on the product. Digital printing uses CMYK inks to create full-color printing. Ideal for products of low quantity and can be done on slightly curved surfaces.
Examples: Lighters, rulers, posters and banners.
Heat transfer Printing
Heat transfer can be done in full colour. Printers use intense heat to press the ink into the material, making sure that your logo isn’t going anywhere. It can be used on just about any product.
Examples: Printing on mugs, hats and clothing.
Embossing or Debossing
Dies are constructed from metal in the shape of your logo. The product is then placed between them and heat and pressure push and form the material into the impression you want. Embossing with raise the logo and Debossing will push the logo into the product. You can also add color to the logo with foils.
Examples: silicon bracelets, leather, diaries, conference folders and notebooks.
Stickers
Digital printed on to Clear or White vinyl in full colour. They can be put on almost any products are Low cost and can personalised. Perfect for disposable products.
Examples: Packaging and gift boxes to add little extra finish.
Doming
Clear resin type coating applied to products in small areas. It is extremely durable to scratches and fading and can be done on any flat surface or sticker.
Examples: keyrings, USB’s and badges.
